Klymit Aconcagua Expedition Embarks on Jan. 20

We’re excited to announce that we’re sponsoring the Klymit Aconcagua Expedition — an adventure to summit the tallest mountain in the Americas. The Klymit Aconcagua Expedition marks the first formal mountaineering expedition supported and outfitted by Klymit apparel and gear. Powered by NobleTek® technology, this expedition will have apparel featuring adjustable insulation for the various extreme conditions they are likely to encounter on their – fifteen day climb.

At 6,962 meters (22,841 feet), Aconcagua looms over the Andes mountain range in Argentina, 50 miles northeast of Santiago, Chile. Aconcagua is one of the most sought after peaks of mountaineers across the globe. Each year, hundreds of climbers attempt to reach its summit with only one third having success. The expedition team will include three experienced climbers from Mexico, Canada and the USA. Javier Leyva of Mexico City will lead the team, which includes Mauricio Lopez of originally from Monterrey, Mexico, but raised in Toronto, Canada and Mitchell Horn of Windham, CT The Klymit Aconcagua Team will be outfitted in Klymit apparel, specifically the Klymit Kinetic Double Diamond Vest and Klymit Kinetic Olympus Hardshell Jacket and Kinetic shoulder-zip baselayers. The team will sleep on Klymit’s ISPO award winning Inertia X-Frame camping pad. Packing down to the size of a soda can, the Inertia X-Frame is an ultra-light camping pad that offers maximum comfort for minimal space in a backpack. The Klymit Aconcagua Expedition will be documented on the team’s blog and Facebook page, as well as Klymit’s blog, facebook page and Twitter.

Best of luck to the team! Stay tuned for updates!
